Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Recognizing the Problem

One or both of your wrists start to hurt. At first they ache. The pain gets more severe. Eventually, you start to drop things and or your hands go numb. The nerve in your wrist is swollen. You can loose your ability to work temporarily or even permanently. Surgery becomes an option at this point.

An Alternative

I assume you know about keyboards, mouse position, and wrist rests. But still, you can do all that, and still come up hurting. Or, your carpal tunnel can be caused by repetitive motion from anything from cutting hair and rolling perms to driving a semi, to working an assembly line. I have had carpal tunnel triggered by writing and driving. Fortunately, my Chiropractor had a great tip for me. Taking B-Vitamins works. If this is going to work for you, you will feel better in minutes. This is another of my tricks that no one believes, until they try it.

Using Vitamin B

Even if your daily multi-vitamin has B Complex, you may not be getting enough to protect your wrists. When I am writing, I add a High Potency B Complex to my morning collection of multi-vitamins and supplements. I find that a "50" mg mix of all the B vitamins is enough for me. However, more powerful B Complexes are available. My favorite is a sustained release form that I buy at Trader Joes. You may need to experiment to find the dosage that best works for you.

Considerations

This is remedy that works best the earlier you start. At the first sign of wrist pain, make Vitamin B Complex part of your daily regimen. It is preventative, apparently reducing swelling. You will need to adjust the amount and frequency of the B pills to reach the dosage that controls your pain. Your body with get rid of excess. (It can turn your urine a disturbing shade of neon yellow.) But don’t forget to look at how you can reduce stress on your wrists so that you don’t get to the point where damage is too severe to be repaired.
